Diversity=Strength.
Diversity is highly valued at Yahoo!. The first employees of Yahoo! were a diverse group of talented people who immediately recognized the power of a team with different backgrounds and strengths. Today, Yahoo! is a global corporation with presence in over 24 countries and 13 languages. Our workplace initiatives and community outreach efforts reinforce our culture of diversity and enable us to attract varied talent for employment at all levels within the corporation. We believe in selecting the best and brightest talent to fill opportunities based upon qualifications, skill, potential, and excellence. Yahoo! is committed to equal opportunity. In that spirit, we welcome your interest in our employment.
Stakeholder Groups
Yahoo! has formed stakeholder groups to engage specific communities more effectively. Groups of employees who understand a particular community’s needs have come together to help guide Yahoo’s efforts in marketing, product strategy, recruiting and policy. Currently, we have an African American Group, a Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender (GLBT) Group, a Hispanic and Latino Group, an Asian Group and an Accessibility Group. These groups help us connect with these communities better while identifying current and upcoming issues. Recent highlights of these stakeholder group contributions include: building a Yahoo! Gay Pride site, honoring Black History Month with on-campus speakers and support for the Freedom Train, and honoring Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by bringing Survivor winner Yul Kwon to Yahoo!.
Some of the organizations we support that champion diversity include:
- Alliance of Technology and Women
- Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing
- International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference at California State University, Northridge
- Women of Color Action Network
Our Diversity Efforts Have Been Recognized
At Yahoo!, we believe in creating an inclusive work environment for all employees. Our efforts have resulted in Yahoo! being awarded one of the Best Employers for Minorities by Black Collegian Magazine and as one of the best places for GLBT Equality, according to the Human Rights Campaign’s Foundation.
