The Green Team

The Yahoo! Green Team taps into the power of our own employees’ passion for protecting the environment. This cross-functional team keeps their eagle eyes open for every opportunity to become a more innovative and a more environmentally friendly company—both on our campus and on our Web site.

See below for a few examples of the Yahoo! Green Team's most recent initiatives:

• Chuck the Paper Cup Campaigns: Efforts to raise awareness about the waste generated by using paper cups instead of reusable mugs. The Green Team's most recent efforts included hiding reusable mugs all over campus for Yahoos to use and giving reusable mug users fast passes to the front of the coffee line for a day.
• Purple Recycle Bins: The Green Team led an effort to design fun, purple recycling bins that are used in our building lobbies and at major Yahoo! events. These attention-grabbing bins help drive recycling awareness and usage.
• Yahoo! Green Screen: A touch screen energy-monitoring system at our Sunnyvale headquarters. This system helps employees understand our company's overall energy usage as well as the cause and effect of their actions thus inspiring them to make green changes in their daily behaviors.
