Our Commute Alternatives Program
Our Commute Alternatives Program in Sunnyvale, California, provides support for Yahoo! employees who are interested in finding alternatives to driving alone to work. This program benefits employees as well as decreases impacts on the environment. We have a full-time staff dedicated to helping each employee find their best available commute mode, taking into account quality of life issues such as cost, time, safety, mental and physical well-being, and productivity.
Some of the services that we provide to our employees include shuttles equipped with Wi-Fi that connect with local transit stations in San Francisco and the East Bay, 25% transit subsidies, vanpool subsidies bicycle racks and lockers, showers, carpool matching, preferred parking for carpool and vanpools, a Guaranteed Ride Home program. And, employees who come to work without driving alone are rewarded with free lunches, movie tickets and massages!
Yahoo!’s commitment to our Commute Alternatives Program has been recognized with the following awards:
- Designation as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters by the U.S. EPA
- Gold Winner in the U.S. EPA’s Best Workplaces for Commuters Race to Excellence
- Designation as a Gold Level Participant in the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s Spare the Air campaigns. This is the highest achievable level
- Achievement of a Platinum Level of Accomplishment by the Moffett Park Business and Transportation Association. This is the highest achievable level
