Freecycle is a network that enables people to donate and receive objects for free. Deron Beal, Freecycle’s founder, estimates that the network keeps the equivalent of 300 tons of materials out of landfills every day. How do they keep the momentum going? Freecycle uses Yahoo! Groups to create its local communities, and now has over 4,000 networks operating in 75 countries. With Yahoo! Groups, Freecycle members can easily communicate with each other, and transform one person’s recycling into another’s treasure.
